Validate, understand and edit CIM data
With e.validate, CIM-Navigate and e.ditor you take CIM data from validation through root-cause analysis to targeted correction – in one continuous web-based workflow.
Producing CIM data is only the first step
CIM creates a standardised data basis. But for reliable processes the data also has to be validated, complex relationships understood and errors corrected efficiently.
- Structural and domain data errors are hard to detect reliably.Check CIM data automatically against standardised and custom SHACL rules.
- A validation result shows the error, but not always its domain context.Examine affected objects, properties and relations and follow the relationships in the model.
- Corrections directly in complex CIM files are laborious and error-prone.Edit and extend CIM objects and relationships precisely in a modern web interface.
- Validation, analysis and correction often happen in separate tools.Work from the detected error to the corrected data model in one coordinated workflow.
Find issues. Understand them. Fix them.
Validate & identify errors
Check CIM data structurally and functionally with SHACL and pinpoint violations of defined requirements.
What the CIM Suite changes in your data process
Integrated workflow
Validation, analysis and editing mesh directly with each other.
Higher data quality
Check structural and domain requirements systematically and reproducibly.
Faster error resolution
Go straight from the validation result to the affected object and its context.
Transparency in complex CIM models
Examine objects, properties and relations easily and follow their relationships.
Turn CIM requirements into rules faster
AI support is integrated directly into the CIM-Suite. In e.validate, it already assists with the creation of SHACL shapes. Step by step, we are extending this support to further tasks around validating, analyzing, and editing CIM data.
AI-assisted SHACL generation
Turn domain requirements into structured SHACL validation rules faster with AI support.
Develop validation rules efficiently
Create and adapt shapes faster and use them as a basis for expert review and further refinement.
Assisted CIM workflows
Validation, analysis, and editing of CIM data are increasingly supported by AI-assisted workflows.
AI accelerates modeling while rules and results remain transparent, editable, and open to expert review.
CIM tools in practical use

Frequently asked questions about the CIM Suite
The CIM Suite consists of three coordinated applications: e.validate for validating CIM data, CIM-Navigate for navigating and analysing complex models and e.ditor for the targeted editing and extension of CIM data.
e.validate identifies data quality issues and rule violations. Affected objects and their relationships can then be examined with CIM-Navigate in the model context. e.ditor finally allows the targeted correction or extension of the relevant CIM data.
e.validate can check both structural and domain requirements for CIM data – for example cardinalities, data types, value ranges, patterns as well as more complex relationships between objects. The rules are described with SHACL and can be reused automatically.
Yes. In addition to existing rules, company- and use-case-specific SHACL rules can be defined. More complex validation requirements can be implemented with advanced SHACL mechanisms.
CIM data consists of highly interlinked objects and relations. CIM-Navigate makes it possible to follow these relationships directly and examine the data model from different domain perspectives, so causes and effects of findings become traceable far faster.
e.ditor allows the editing of CIM objects, properties and relations. Depending on the data model, the information can be displayed and edited in a data view as well as geographically and schematically.
The applications work with CIM-based data models and can also be used in the context of CGMES. Which profiles, rules and process steps are needed depends on the specific use case and the underlying data.
The CIM Suite comprises the software tools for validating, analysing and editing CIM data. CIM consulting instead supports the introduction and design of CIM – for example mapping existing data models, profiles and extensions as well as integration into existing systems and processes.
