A normative framework alone prioritises no measure. How condition, criticality and grid data combine into a robust basis for decisions.
From the standard to a decision rule
ISO 55000 describes how an asset management system is set up and governed. What the standard deliberately does not provide is the concrete rule by which a grid operator decides between two measures. That rule has to emerge from the operator's own data – and it has to be documented, versioned and auditable.
In practice the route runs through three building blocks: a traceable condition index per equipment class, a criticality assessment that takes the grid context into account, and a risk view that brings probability of occurrence and impact together. Only the combination produces a ranking that holds up in front of the regulator and the management board.
The data basis is decisive. As long as condition data, grid model and measure planning sit in separate systems with their own identifiers, every prioritisation remains an estimate with a tidy surface.
